Amazon plinthosols: carbon stocks and physical properties under different land uses

چکیده
The population growth and the climate changes impose challenges to society, especially regarding food supply maintenance of desirable soil conditions. Besides, it is necessary reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Hence, there a necessity studies addressing understanding conditions under different land uses, as soils can become carbon pools or sources depending on management practices. This study was conducted in profiles Amazon Plinthosols uses: undisturbed forests, cattle ranching pastures, mixed crops. Soil density fraction were assessed at four depths (0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-40 cm), while particle size mineralogy examined 0-20 cm. Soils forests presented lower densities higher fractions when compared other uses. These also highest stock; however, Tukey test indicated no significant differences. forest environments. Cattle pastures stocks crops (at age 10 years). Our results that proper practices are needed maintain productive capacity after converting forested areas for Plinthosols, due its textural mineralogical characteristics, high amounts quartz, demonstrating how sensitive these environments landscape deforestation unstable because such provides useful information stock Plinthosols. It may be helpful improve Brazilian Inventory Anthropogenic Emissions Removals Greenhouse Gases understand impacts land-use change.

A Case Study of Carbon Pools under Three Different Land-uses in Panamá
This paper examines changes in carbon (C) pools associated with land-use, synthesizing data from two experiments dealing with different aspects of tree plantation establishment in Central Panamá. First, we analysed soil profiles in a grazed pasture and an adjacent 5-year-old teak (Tectona grandis) plantation. There were small differences in soil C mass in the top 10 cm of the pasture and the pl...

The vertical distribution of dominant genera of bacterivorous nematodes to 150-cm depth in an aquic brown soil was compared after 14 years of four contrasting land uses, i.e., cropland-rice (CR), cropland-maize (CM), abandoned cropland (AC), and woodland (WL). The study was conducted at the Shenyang Experimental Station of Ecology, a Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) site in Northeast C...
متن کاملSoil Respiration under Different Land Uses in Eastern China
Land-use change has a crucial influence on soil respiration, which further affects soil nutrient availability and carbon stock. We monitored soil respiration rates under different land-use types (tea gardens with three production levels, adjacent woodland, and a vegetable field) in Eastern China at weekly intervals over a year using the dynamic closed chamber method. The relationship between so...

High-resolution forest carbon stocks and emissions in the Amazon.
Efforts to mitigate climate change through the Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) depend on mapping and monitoring of tropical forest carbon stocks and emissions over large geographic areas. With a new integrated use of satellite imaging, airborne light detection and ranging, and field plots, we mapped aboveground carbon stocks and emissions at 0.1-ha resolution over 4....
